Too Little, Too Late?!?!?!

McCain set for 'Saturday Night Live' cameo

My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election.

Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.

Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

When McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, appeared on the show Oct. 18, "Saturday Night Live" earned its best ratings in 14 years. Former star and head writer Tina Fey, a Palin lookalike, has been at the center of the show's recent parodies of the campaign.

"SNL" regular Darrell Hammond impersonates McCain on the late-night show, now in its 34th season.

McCain last appeared on "Saturday Night Live" in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued. The 72-year-old Arizona senator joked about his age, saying: "I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old."

When McCain hosted "SNL" in 2002, he mocked singer Barbra Streisand's political advocacy by performing a medley of her songs.

Obama appeared on "Saturday Night Live" briefly last season but canceled a return for its season opener in September, citing the devastation brought to parts of the country by Hurricane Ike.

(Chris' Comments - I just don't see this having a positive effect on those who are still sitting on the fence. It seems like just another despirate attempt for the McCain/Palin tour bus to try and sway voters - most of which, in the case of SNL viewers are College Age/Middle Age and appear to be Democratic.) *

YES WE CAN

After Watching Last Nights Campaign Ad

I'm an Obama fan. I'm voting for him (already have in fact). But I found this quote and I think it applies to McCain/Palin. Hope you like.

Wednesday Ramblings

It's a beautiful Wednesday Morning. The birds are chirping, the sky is a bright cloudless blue, a light breeze wafts by brushing against multicolored leaves. It's crisp. It's clear. And where am I? Not out there...

I'm inside. I'm in my office. I'm admiring three tan walls with very little photographic ambiance. When I turn around to the fourth wall... I see the back of another portion of my building staring back at me. There's concrete below me, dumpsters, handicapped car parking. And one lone tree in the middle of it all.

I wonder occasionally, as I peer out the window, if that tree will loose its leaves. Will it change colors? Will it die in a harsh Arkansas winter? What will it bear in the Spring, when the snow and the ice retreat for another year.

Many questions. Many Thoughts. Not enough time to answer anything.

Gotta run to my next assignment.

Till Friday, then...

Allison Lost Her First Tooth

I posted this last week when it actually happened, but I like this Blog program better, so I thought I would share....

October 23rd, 2008

Make no mistake, I don't feel old most of the time. But this past Tuesday Night, I felt ancient.

Allison, my soon-to-be six year old (tomorrow in fact), has had a wiggly tooth for about a week and a half. She talked non-stop about the tooth, what she would do with it once it fell out, etc. Amanda and I've been excited about Allison's tooth as well, but there's always been that lingering, stomuch wrenching, knot in the throat feeling, knowing that our little girl is growing up.

So Tuesday night Allison comes bopping into our bedroom to play a game on the computer. I hear over my shoulder a gasp and when I turn around, Allison's eyes are as big as saucers and she's crying. Turns out, she'd pushed her tongue against her loose tooth and it had started to pop out. After calming her a bit, I gently took the tooth between thumb and index finger and pulled it the rest of the way out. Into a plastic bag and under the pillow it went. The next morning she was triumphantly holding a $5.00 bill from the Toothfairy.

When did she grow up? Get so big, that she's reading whole sentences, understanding that four boxes drawn on a paper are the same as the number four written on the page. It seems like only yesterday, she was responding to Amanda and I talking to her through her Mommy's tummy. Wasn't it yesterday that I watched her roll over for the first time? Walk across the Sunday School Classroom floor with out falling? Eat her food with a spork on her own? When did she get so big?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to feel old.
